Lining methods for the renovation of sewers and pipes represent the largest group of renovation methods. In the case of the lining processes self-supporting full linings of sewers are produced on the basis of prefabricated pipes, locally manufactured pipes and locally manufactured and hardening pipes. The subject of this course is “Lining with Cured-In-Place Pipes (CIPP)” and “Lining with Spirally-Wound Pipes”.

In addition to the description of the procedure and process, the course deals in particular with the areas and limits of application, advantages and disadvantages as well as possible remediation errors and quality assurance options.

The course contains didactically prepared expert knowlege in 5 modules:

2. Lining with Cured-In-Place Pipes (CIPP) - Processes
3. Lining with Cured-In-Place Pipes (CIPP) - Details on the Installation of UV Cured-In-Place Pipes

5. Lining with Spirally-Wound Pipes with Stationary Winding Machine without Reinforcement made of Metal or Plastic

The renovation of sewers and pipelines with "Lining with cured-in-place pipes" is an established standard construction method, starting with the planning process, through material production and installation, right up to checking the quality achieved. It is characterized by a wide range of applications and a high variance in the fabrication and application processes. 

This module teaches the essential basics in relation to the fabrication of the lining tube and its installation.

The module "Details on the Installation of Lining with UV Cured-in-Place Pipes” is based on the ordering and installation manual SAERTEX-LINER® for gravity pipes and sewers by SAERTEX multiCom GmbH. This module describes the essential work steps, starting with site preparation, continuing with the installation of the lining tube, the curing and, finally, the essential finishing work.

Note: Specific numerical values in this module apply to products from SAERTEX multiCom GmbH and are not readily transferable to products from other manufacturers.

The renovation of sewers and pipelines with "Lining with cured-in-place pipes" is an assured standard construction method, starting with the planning process, through the production of materials, the installation, right up to checking the quality achieved. It is characterised by a wide range of applications and a high variance in the fabrication and application processes. This module teaches essential basics with regard to the required finishing work including the taking of samples, their testing for the acceptance of the rehabilitation performance and gives an overview of rehabilitation defects and their handling.

This module requires knowledge of the modules “Lining with cured-in-place pipes - Basics” and " - Processes” as a prerequisite.

Thus, this module creates the basis for an optimal process selection within the planning process and provides essential basic knowledge for construction supervision.

The “lining with spirally-wound pipes” process is assigned to the group of lining processes with locally produced pipes. The characteristic of this method is the production of a spirally formed self-supporting or static load-bearing liner on-site, from factory-made extruded plastic profiles with the help of a winding machine.

The site documentation describes the rehabilitation of a brick ovid-shaped sewer DN 1000/1500 using an in-situ cured synthetic felt liner (SF liner) also ca. It presents the complete construction process, from preparatory measures, shoring and flow diversion to the installation of the preliner, inversion and hot water curing.

In addition, the equipment used, support structures within manholes, and quality assurance measures such as temperature monitoring and sampling are described in detail. Finally, the documentation covers the reopening works, trimming of the liner, and the CCTV inspection carried out to verify the rehabilitation result.
